One week in Clearwater Beach

One week in Clearwater Beach

On my way to Melbourne, I took a break in Clearwater Beach to attend this year’s LCN conference. After all the effort of packing our stuff in Berlin, I was quite happy with the choice of the venue. There is not much going on in Clearwater, the town is mostly made for tourists and retired people. Still, the beaches are very beautiful so taking conference breaks at the beach to swim and relax was pretty fun.

The best part of the week were the sunsets. The first day had pretty much blue sky. Over the next couple it got more cloudy (the first signs of hurricane Sandy!). Nevertheless, it was always warm enough to swim in the mornings and in the afternoons.

The options of eating out were a bit limited since all beach cafes had exactly the same menu and it was not really vegetarian friendly. On the last days, i found out that Italian Diner next to my hotel served veggie burgers! They were pretty nice and as usual in the states the portions were huge. I was really happy when i managed to finish one of those and gladly let breakfast pass the following day.

On the last day there was some unexpected excitement! A 3-day walkathon to raise funds for breast cancer research started in Sand Key crossing the bridge to Clearwater. A neverending line of walking divas, who all wore something pink, cheered along the beach walk of Clearwater in the morning.
