Here are some pictures taken during my stay in San Francisco in late June. As I was attending a conference, i did something i usually would skip when traveling alone: A boat ride from Pier 39 passing the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz was part of the social event. And it turned out great, even a couple of the mysterious sea lions showed up on the posts to lazily greet the departing vessel. A week later, when we came back from Yosemite, we did a little detour after our lunch in Berkeley so we could drive over the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Grand Walk in San Francisco

One of the things i was excited to do in San Francisco was the Grand Walk. The walk goes all the way from Lands End to Fisherman’s Wharf in 6 miles along the coastline passing the Golden Gate Bridge on the way. The Grand Walk is a combination of a couple of short trails rather than one single hike. Getting to the trail head takes only about 30 minutes by bus from Downtown.
