Easy House Vegetarian Cuisine in Taipei
On our first evening in Taipei, we went to the Easy House Vegetarian Cuisine, a popular small chain of vegetarian restaurants around Taiwan. The interior has several Zen elements with lots of wood, flowing water over a black marble wall, and a little stone garden. The menu is quite big and most prominently are many diverse vegetable stews and soups. In October, there were also many specials with pumpkins and different kinds of mushrooms. We went for the option of a set meal with salad, soup, a main course (mostly stews), and dessert. Here is the salad that came out first:
Shortly afterwards, a small portion of steamed pumpkin and okra both with a passion fruit sauce was served:
Then it was time for the main courses that all came with beautiful and delicious purple wild rice. Here is the mixed mushrooms stew:
Finally, two desserts were served with assorted fruits and a cold and sour grain soup, which I did not like very much. It may have been better as part of the starters or next to the salad.
The food was delicious, especially the wild purple rice made a great impression. The spicy Kung Pao stew turned out to be not so spicy at all (even the chunks of chili). Only the sour grain soup as dessert was a bit boring but maybe I was just already full already at this time.
